A thank you is priceless

I don’t know about you but I do always try and say thank you to people when they’ve done something for me, and often times if that has led to business for me then I like to make it something a bit more special, perhaps sending a gift card or having flowers delivered.  It’s just the way I was brought up I guess.

Today I received a beautiful vase of flowers via my local florist just as I was about to head out the door on the school run.  Having no idea why anyone would be sending me flowers, and thinking they must have sent them to the wrong person, I opened the card and my whole face lit up.

They were indeed for me, a thank you from someone I had referred a client to recently.  They were so unexpected and just happened to arrive when I was feeling really rough and out of sorts thanks to a yukky cold virus and I can’t tell you the lovely warm feeling that they elicited.

Every time I look at them now I smile.

So next time someone does something for you, do think about how you can acknowledge it.  It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture like flowers, it could just be a simple acknowledgement on social media saying thank you or buying a colleague in the office a cream bun, it’s not how you do it that is important, just that you do it.

And trust me, as the lucky recipient of someone else’s thoughts this morning the feeling is priceless!
